Dana White has had his share of controversy. The UFC CEO gained widespread infamy for slapping his wife in public. He recently offered candid remarks about how the highly publicized incident impacted his children.
Video footage from 2023 showed White and his wife striking each other in the Cabo nightclub. This sparked widespread backlash and condemnation when it surfaced. Both White and his wife, Anne White, accepted responsibility and apologized. However, the UFC boss revealed facing his three kids was the toughest part. This is what he said:
Your kids know exactly who you are, If you do things like that to your wife, your kids know… Nobody wants to see their dumb drunk parents slapping each other on TMZ.Dana White via The Sage Steele Podcast
He acknowledged the videos of him slapping Anne were especially painful for his children. Dana White stated that his oldest son, Dana White III, didn’t speak to them for a period after the incident came to light. White expressed remorse that his actions potentially traumatized his kids.
The UFC CEO is regarded as a trailblazer in MMA’s mainstream rise. However, the slapping incident represented an undeniable personal misstep as a public figure. White acknowledged that he had disappointed his fans and family by displaying disturbing information. White seemed intent on showing accountability rather than downplaying it. His behavior may have negatively impacted his impressionable children.
Dana White talks about his parents’ death in 2023
Dana White is known as the outspoken CEO of the UFC. However, he usually doesn’t talk about his parents. Recently, he opened up about his complicated upbringing and the recent loss of both parents for the first time. White sat down with TV host Piers Morgan for an unfiltered discussion. He didn’t mince words about his fractured family ties.
White admitted he had almost no feelings about it. This came as a surprising admission, given the gravity of losing one’s parents. When asked how their deaths impacted him, White’s response was blunt. The UFC CEO said he was good with whatever happened. White acknowledged being physically present to put his father to rest. However, he did not attend his mother’s funeral, which her family handled.
White recognized his contentious parental bonds and believed that they shaped him. He reflected that he learned a lot from his parents about how not to raise children. The 54-year-old insisted he wouldn’t change his dysfunctional upbringing. He cited that this was the reason for his success.
