“That Fight Makes Sense” Dana White gives Nate Diaz the green signal to fight Jake Paul

The two have expressed an interest in fighting each other since last year
Dana White and Nate Diaz have a contentious relationship to say the least. From the days Dana described Nate as not being a, “Needle Mover, ” Diaz has come a long way and has much more leverage over the UFC than earlier. This doesn’t play well to Dana’s liking and hence disputes between the two parties are all too common.
For the last year Diaz has been trying to be released from his contract with the UFC so that he can make money elsewhere while he still has time. Another notable factor is that Diaz is on his last contracted fight, something the UFC is eager to change. A big star like Nate going to another organization can very well carry his star power to the organization itself.
While Diaz for his part has done everything in his power to either recieve his final contracted bout or be released from the contract none have led to positive actions from the UFC’s side. To this extent he has publicly called out the wrong Hunter Campbell multiple times and even went as far as to urinate on the UFC’s Performance Institute

Dana White thinks Nate Diaz vs Jake Paul fight makes the most sense

To combat this the UFC has in the past given departing fighters tough opposition that would surely bring down their stock, offering Nate a fight against Khamzat Chimaev in a similar vein, something Diaz openly rejected. Nate was also offered a trilogy bout against McGregor one that he also rejected due to the uncertainty in the timeline of McGregor’s recovery.
Recently Nate asked to be released again via a Twitter post, while also for the first time hinting that he wanted to fight Jake Paul. In another first Dana had a positive response to anything that had the words Nate Diaz and Jake Paul in it.
Talking to the MacLife, Dana said , “I like Nate, let’s be honest, but he’s won 1 fight in 5 years” detailing on how he has to maintain a level of respect while dealing with fighters who have long been a part of the company while also not messing up matchmaking. “He probably should go on and fight Jake Paul, that’s the fight that makes the most sense. “ said Dana as he dismissed the topic.
