The match was highly anticipated by MMA fans because Jones is an undefeated UFC legend and Miocic is also a formidable opponent. However, fans now must wait for this fight to materialize again since Jones will be out of commission. In addition, Jones received the injury during a sparring session two weeks prior to his fight and has undergone surgery. Furthermore, during a press conference for UFC 295, UFC CEO Dana White provided an update about Jones. Subsequently, White stated:

Soon as he heard that he was injured and knew how bad it was, he went right to LA. Got the surgery, and he's already in rehab.....physical therapy, I should say.

Hence, White confirmed that Jones swiftly got his surgery done because the nature of his injury was serious. Furthermore, White stated that Jones is already going through physical therapy but accidentally called it rehab, which made everyone laugh briefly.

In addition, White confirmed that both Jones and Miocic want to make this fight happen in the near future. Subsequently, after his surgery, it may take Jones up to 8 months to recover and return to the octagon.

Dana White scoffs at the idea of a Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou fight

At the press conference for UFC 295, UFC CEO White ruled out the possibility of PFL and UFC cross-promotions to make room for a bout between Jones and Francis Ngannou. Ngannou was the former UFC heavyweight champion before leaving the promotion because he was unsatisfied with his career and contract and signed with the PFL.

Furthermore, while Ngannou was at the top of the UFC heavyweight division, Jones was not active in the UFC. Hence, Jones and Ngannou never got to fight in the octagon to determine who was the better UFC heavyweight. Subsequently, White shot down the idea of a co-promotion with PFl and said that he was not interested.

In addition, White stated that he tried to make the Jones vs. Ngannou fight happen, but they did not want it. White also stated that co-promoting with PFL would not make sense at all and would not be a lucrative opportunity.
