“He wants to fight ,” Dana White lays down an estimated timeline for the return of Conor McGregor
Conor McGregor
UFC President Dana White has finally spoken about the possible time period that would mark the return of UFC megastar Conor McGregor and 2022 seems bright in terms of the return of some huge names, with McGregor being one and former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic being the others. McGregor was last seen inside the Octagon when he fractured his shin bone due to which he lost his intense rivalry against Dustin Poirier in a trilogy at UFC 264 last year.
McGregor has successfully recovered from the brutal injury and training clips are already moving around the internet. Meanwhile, McGregor managed to have some monetary success. From becoming Forbes’ highest-paid athlete of 2021 to owning the most successful restaurant in Dublin, Ireland, McGregor is living a life that is fair enough to make him quit fighting as a source of income. But it seems like that termination of his combat sports career is far from McGregor’s will to happen.
Dana White claims Conor McGregor has various offers to make money, but chooses to keep on fighting
In an interview at The Jim Rome Show, Dana White talked about the UFC 276 fight card headlined by middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and #2 ranked challenger Jared Cannonier, the possible return of Jon Jones, the next fights in line for Nate Diaz and much more. In the end, White talked about McGregor’s return to fighting and whether it will be inside an Octagon or a boxing ring.
“Conor’s looking to come back by the end of this year or early next year.” says White “When I do talk to Conor, Conor wants to fight. Conor gets all kinds of offers, from movie roles and all these other things that he can go and do and make money. He doesn’t want to do any of that. Conor wants to fight.“
What do you make of White subtly praising on McGregor’s love for fighting? Do you think McGregor will return to the Octagon this year or next year? McGregor was also rumoured to be in talks with undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather for a rematch in boxing. Do you want to see that fight happen again? The first fight went a TKO victory in favour of Mayweather, how do you think this rematch will go if it happens?
