Dana White was spotted with Michael “Venom” Page at the ceremonial weigh-ins of UFC 294. Given that Page is a free agent, their picture together has ignited speculations. The acclaimed kickboxer competed in Bellator MMA where he once contended for the interim welterweight title. Moreover, he also competed in BKFC in a loss to “Platinum” Mike Perry.

The MMA community was sent abuzz with on seeing the picture of Page with the UFC CEO. Page competes in the welterweight division where the UFC has a new champion. The UFC had missed out on top welterweight prospects like Roberto Soldic and Cedric Doumbe to rival promotions in One and PFL respectively. With Bellator MMA merging with the PFL, UFC would have a strong rival in the US.

Page has only lost twice in his MMA career, to Logan Storley and Douglas Lima. Lima and Storley have held titles in the division. Page was recently spotted spending time with Stephen Thompson, another striker with a fan-friendly style in MMA. It’s worth mentioning that ever since Page became a free agent, the MMA community has been clamoring for a Page vs. Thompson bout in the UFC.

However, Thompson put those thoughts to rest in his podcast with his brother Tony “Sweet T” Thompson. “Wonderboy” said that they are close friends and would not be fighting if Page signs with UFC. Thompson is set to face the undefeated welterweight, Shavkat Rakhmanov, at UFC 296. The welterweight title will also be on the line at UFC 296 as Colby Covington will be challenging Leon Edwards in the awaited matchup.

It’s worth noting that attending UFC events doesn’t guarantee a contract with the promotion. Both Kayla Harrison and Roberto Soldic have been spotted at UFC events, yet neither ended up signing with them. Nevertheless, Michael Page would be a welcome addition to the UFC’s already stacked division if he chose to sign with Dana White and company.
