“Nothing but respect” – Dana White promises not to say anything about Luke Rockhold after the latter’s retirement from the UFC

Dana White and Luke Rockhold
Luke Rockhold fought Paulo Costa at the co-main event of UFC 278 and the fight turned out to be an absolute war. Both the fighters put out amazing performances and didn’t hold back against each other. Rockhold at the age of 37 years showed why he is a legend of the sport. However, it wasn’t enough to stop the Brazilian from taking a much-needed win.
After the fight, Rockhold announced he is going to retire from the sport however, before his last fight he tried his best to talk about fighters’ pay in the UFC. He said :
“These guys don’t know what they’re doing, and they’re letting Dana just run the show and suppress the sport,” Rockhold told reporters at Wednesday’s media. “They need to grow. This whole fcking thing needs to grow together. Our lives are on the fcking line. Healthcare needs to be taken care of. Our f*cking health needs to be taken care of. Mine has not been taken care of.”

After all the crazy action at UFC 278, Dana White appeared at the post-fight press conference to answer some of the media’s questions.
During the interaction, White was asked about Luke Rockhold’s claims about UFC fight purses and healthcare facilities. While responding to that, White every fighter has their own set of opinions and he respects it. White explained that before this fight both Costa and Rockhold had to go through a lot of pressure but despite that both the fighters gave an amazing fight for the fans. He said :
“I think that coming into a situation like both theirs. There’s a lot of pressure, there’s a lot of stress. He’s entitled to his own opinions, in his own. Whatever it is, let me tell you what. I’ll never say anything about him.“
“I totally respect him and after that work tonight, normal humans like us that are sitting here in this room have no idea what those two went through tonight in that octagon and we never will, thank f**** god. Ok and for both them to dig deep as they did and put on a absolute dogfight like they did, I have nothing but respect for both of them. Are they both a little nutty? Absolutely but hey, nothing but respect.” Added White.
It was nice of White for not to drag this incident more and not take away anything from Rockhold in his last fight. Regardless of all the controversies, Rockhold is a great fighter and deserves all the respect.
