Dana White is the final decision maker in the UFC and the boss has a very difficult decision to make with the lightweight division. The division is absolutely stacked yet it has no current champion. Islam Makhachev is a favorite to fight for the vacant title against recently dethroned, Charles Oliveira. Khabib Nurmagomedov recently revealed that he got no answer from Dana when he messaged him about the potential Oliveira vs Makhachev fight.

Dana recently had a sit down with Brett Okamoto of ESPN MMA and promoted the upcoming pay-per-view event, UFC 275. White also talked about why he didn’t respond to Khabib’s message. Like the fans, even Dana is not sure as to which fight he wants to see first, Islam vs Beneil or Islam vs Charles. In the interview, he sheds light on that subject too.

“Well, it is nothing personal. I got him and Ali [Abdelaziz] all over me about Islam [Makhachev],” said White on ghosting the former lightweight champion. Dana says he still has no definite answer for Khabib and his crew as to who Islam might fight next in the UFC and whether a title shot is awaiting him. “There’s no answer. I wanted to do that fight him [Islam] and Beneil Dariush.”

Islam is currently on a 10-fight winning streak while Charles Oliveira has an 11-fight winning streak. The Brazilian recently was stripped of the belt for missing championship weight at UFC 274 in his fight against Justin Gaethje. Despite winning the bout in spectacular fashion, Charles still remains uncrowned. “Do Bronx” has the word of Dana that he will be fighting for the title next. The title contender however is still undecided and could cause some tension among the 155-pound division.
