The return of two-division former champ Conor McGregor has remained a bitter-sweet topic amongst fight circles. Years on the shelf, MMA enthusiasts and pundits have deliberated on the return with much angst. ‘The Notorious’ has long been projected to fight TUF:31 coach Michael Chandler. Now, Dana White posted a cryptic Instagram story that indicated the Irishman’s return.

White has a history of announcing key matchups via social media and IG Lives. He habitually does so before every momentous PPV event. Taking to his IG stories, White showcased an old reel of Conor McGregor, along with sparring mate Dillon Danis. This could indicate the announcement of the Irishman’s return along with the fight date.

There’s no telling if this was a tease or just Dana White reminding everyone that he hasn’t forgotten. However, fight fans expressed happiness upon witnessing the cryptic Instagram story. A prime reaction on X read – “Nothing feels bigger than a McGregor fight week.” Conor McGregor posted an IG reel on New Year’s Eve, indicating he’s facing Chandler during International Fight Week.

Speaking to UFC on TNT Sports, the Irishman also voiced his unrelenting enthusiasm for his return. Despite the halt of contractual negotiation, McGregor said he’d fight to the grave. Dana White has prompted for a proper camp in place for his return, but the fighter continues to urge his readiness. This particular tease might put that one step closer to reality.
