Recently, controversial MMA fighter Dillon Danis got out of the Bellator contract and, according to many sources, is expected to sign with the UFC. Danis joined Bellator in 2018, but he only fought twice within a 14-month period, emerging victorious in both bouts with first-round submission wins.
After that, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace was out of action because of injuries and other absurdities that kept him from returning to the cage. The only fight he’s had in the past four years was last week’s disqualification loss in a boxing contest against Logan Paul.
Although there isn’t a shred of evidence to suggest that the UFC is even slightly interested in hiring Danis, the fighter declared following the defeat that he would look to sign a UFC contract. That being said, he is close friends with Conor McGregor, so maybe he can utilize his influence to get the promotion.
In a press conference, Dana White was questioned about his future plans for Dillon Danis and whether or not he would be willing to collaborate with him. White responded by saying,
“I don’t know. I actually haven’t even thought about that.”Dana white on press conference
Dana White appears hesitant to sign Danis due to his history of involvement in fights. Regardless of the attention he can generate, his lack of professionalism could negatively impact the promotion.
Dillon Danis promises to take revenge on Team Khabib by beating Islam Makhachev
The UFC hasn’t officially declared anything regarding the signing of Dillon Danis; however, the fighter has already been making claims online. Danis tweeted Dana White, expressing confidence and excitement about his UFC debut, despite the prevailing skepticism, and he mentioned that they would be profitable partners.
Other than that, Danis also shared a picture of UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and mentioned that he has unfinished business with the Dagestani that he plans to settle after joining the UFC.
Danis and Makhachev have a history dating back to the incident at UFC 229 when Khabib Nurmagomedov, after submitting Conor McGregor, leaped over the fence to confront Danis in the audience. It appears that McGregor and Danis have not let go of the memories of that event.
