“Trying not to sh*t on anybody”- Dana White steadfastly against making Nate Diaz vs Kamaru Usman

Nate Diaz and Kamaru Usman

In an interview with The Mac Life, UFC president Dana White explains Nate Diaz’s public feud with his organization. White wasn’t exactly gushing with pride about Diaz’s abilities as a fighter at this stage in his career, even persuading Diaz to schedule the Jake Paul fight.

According to sources, Diaz has one fight left on his UFC contract and passed down an opportunity to face emerging star Khamzat Chimaev. Instead, Nate Diaz has feigned interest to fight Dustin Poirier, Vicente Luque, Tony Ferguson or even Kamaru Usman. He was beaten by Leon Edwards in a unanimous decision earlier this month at UFC 263.

Diaz recently picked up fights with the UFC owing to his contract. On Monday, he tweeted requesting that he be offered a fight in July or August or that his contract be released. Notably, he included a video of Jake Paul knocking out former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, presumably the topic of his “s*** to do.”

Dana White believes a fight between UFC fighter Nate Diaz and YouTuber Jake Paul has a chance. He believes the fight should take place in the future and that it makes sense White recently spoke with TheMacLife on Diaz’s contract status, providing an update on Diaz’s return to the octagon and teasing a fight with Paul.

Dana tells in his interview, “You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to look at it and see lots of game-playing and whatever. Contractually, we got to get him a fight, we’ll get him a fight. I like Nate. Let’s be honest, Nate has won one fight in the last five or six years. When these guys get into these positions, you’ve got guys that have been with us for a long time, that we respect, that care about.”

He even comments on Nate wanting to fight Kamaru. He says, “You want to be fair and do the right thing, whatever. Nate Diaz isn’t going to come in and fight Kamaru Usman. We’re trying to do the best we can, trying not to s*** on anybody and disrespect anybody, but it’s not like we’re talking about Kamaru Usman here. We’re talking about Nate Diaz. Nate has won one fight in five years. We’re trying to figure this out thing out with him. He probably should go on and fight Jake Paul. That’s a fight that makes sense.”

Diaz, on the other hand, seemed to have been listening to White, since he tweeted a plea for a UFC released hours later. He then added two emojis: a blond man and a boxing glove (the blond man most likely referencing Paul).
