Ever since its takeover by President Dana White the UFC has been rising in popularity. The company has had many fighters who have elevated themselves to superstar status with their personality. During the post-fight press conference for UFC 292, White was asked about the newly crowned bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley’s status. White expressed his answer while stating some facts.

The UFC President spoke on O’Malley’s superstar status and his fan following comparing it to American singer Bruce Springsteen. He stated, “We broke the all-time record, Bruce Springsteen just played here. He did five million we did seven, also the Boston Garden we are the biggest thing other than their home team that plays here”. White also revealed that this was the biggest bantamweight fight in history.

White also revealed that there is no such thing as “Dana White Privilege”. Before the fight, O’Malley’s opponent Aljamain Sterling had said that the only reason Suga got a title shot was due to privilege. White cleared out the rumors by explaining the only reason O’Malley got the fight was due to his hard work and massive fan following in the MMA community.

The fight between the two bantamweights delivered more than what was expected. Sterling had the potential to be the undisputed bantamweight GOAT. Whereas O’Malley manifested his plan for the fight and achieved his dream of becoming the champion. During the post-fight interview, O’Malley revealed his thoughts going into the biggest fight of his career.

He knew that he is going against one of the top bantamweights in UFC history and was not fully prepared for it mentally. He said, “This was the most nervous I’ve ever been for a fight. In my eyes, Aljamain Sterling is the best bantamweight of all time. But how can I not be confident when I possess this f**ing right hand, baby? O’Malley made sure to give his opponent the respect he deserved.
