Dana White has been critical of Aljamain Sterling and Merab Dvalishvili not fighting each other. He went out of his way to fight Rose Namjaunas for having a different opinion.

Rose Namajunas has gained the respect of UFC President Dana White and fans alike despite her loss. Namjunas was asked if she would fight former champion and teammate Valentina Shevchenko if she had the chance. She replied that she and Shevchenko have sparred in the gym many times for free and wouldn’t mind getting paid and inspiring people.

White seemed impressed by Namjunas’s comments and appreciated her on Instagram. He posted Namjunas about a fight with Shevchenko and captioned it “Gangster.” He also said, “This is exactly what your mindset should be when you are a pro. Much respect, Rose.” White has advocated for fighters to compete even if they have close friendships with one another.

Many fans believed it was a dig at bantamweight Merab Dvalishvili and his friendship with former champion Aljamain Sterling. White called out the two bantamweights for valuing friendship over their career. He believed the UFC was not the place for people who don’t strive to be the best. Dvalishvili has also said he was ready to give up the title shot for Sterling.

Both bantamweights have united and called out White for denying them what they deserved. They believe either of them should get the title shot instead of fighting each other. It remains to be seen what decision White makes for the bantamweight division’s future.

White remained very vocal in his criticism of Sterling and Dvalishvili not fighting each other. He wanted the top two fighters in the bantamweight division to fight each other and earn a title shot. Check out some of the fan reactions to White praising Namajunas:
