UFC President Dana White will probably have to set up a meeting between two of the G.O.A.Ts from the sports world. Khabib Nurmagomedov, who retired after his fight against Justin Gaethje, is considered one of the greats in the sport. Whereas Michael Jordan is considered the greatest globally and well known for his mentality, work ethic and his line of shoes. While talking about his sneaker collection in an interview, Dana realized he needs to set up a meeting between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Michael Jordan soon.
During his interview with Complex, Dana White showcased his vast sneaker collection, which he stores in his office. While the Nike Travis Scott were his favorite amongst them all, Dana could not hide his love for his Jordans. Dana talked about his love for sneakers, Kobe Bryant, and much more. The interview later asked Dana when he would set up a meeting between Nurmagomedov and Jordan. The former lightweight champion is a huge fan of the NBA legend and was even ready to sell three of his sheep for a meet with Jordan.
When White heard about the situation, he realized he urgently needs to find a way to set up the meeting. “That is hilarious I didn’t know. He’s never asked me to get him an intro with Jordan. But that would be awesome. I’m going to have to work on that now. It’s incredible how Jordan transcends all different sports, and if you look at the similarities between Khabib and Jordan. Both killers, absolute killers and winners.” said Dana.
Khabib giving up three of his sheep to meet Michael Jordan would be a fun sight to witness. However, with Dana’s help, the Eagle most likely won’t have to be separated from his livestock for a meeting with the globally recognized G.O.A.T.
Khabib Nurmagomedov almost came out of his retirement, according to his coach
Former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov retired undefeated at the highest point of his career. He completely dominated Justin Gaethje and submitted him in the second round to achieve a perfect record of 29 wins and 0 losses. Despite his retirement, UFC President Dana White tried very hard to bring back The Eagle on UFC’s roster. However, to no avail, White simply moved on from the idea of bringing back Khabib.
However, Khabib’s coach Javier Mendez has revealed the Eagle was considering a return before McGregor’s bout with Dustin Poirier. According to Mendez, the UFC had not completely let go of Khabib. Despite his retirement, the former Lightweight champion was not exempt from the USADA testing pool. Khabib himself was not completely ready to leave as he started he might come back after witnessing something spectacular. During McGregor’s return against Dustin Poirier, the UFC was trying hard for a rematch between McGregor and Khabib. However, Nurmagomedov was not excited by the outcome of the event.
“It was Conor vs Poirier that night, but it did not get Khabib excited. He said if something exciting happened on that card then maybe he’d consider it. But it never happened. The UFC was pushing him, but nothing excited him, so it was no go,” said coach Mendez. As of now, Khabib is far from ever returning to compete in the sport. Meanwhile, Conor McGregor’s return is becoming uncertain with every passing day.
