UFC 300 is a humongous milestone in the UFC’s journey. As such, the MMA world had a lot of expectations on it. So, fans assumed it would comprise multiple title fights and popular fighters. As such, the UFC earlier revealed numerous fights for UFC 300 with UFC stars in it. Now, UFC CEO Dana White has announced the first title fight for UFC 300, Zhang Weili vs. Yan Xiaonan for the Strawweight title.

In the announcement video, Dana White first praised Zhang Weili for making history by becoming the first Chinese UFC champion. As such, he unveiled history being made again and announced Weili vs. Yan Xionan for UFC 300. Further, he mentioned this was the first Chinese vs. Chinese matchup made for a world title. Here is what he said:

Aug. 31, 2019, history was made when Zhang Weili defeated Jessica Andrade to become the first Chinese champion in UFC history. Guess what, five years later, we will see history being made again as Zhang Weili faces Yan Xianon for the strawweight title at UFC 300. This is the first time two Chinese contenders have faced off for a world title.

After announcing the fight, Dana White went on to hype the fight. Firstly, he mentioned Weili Zhang having an 80% finish rate and the second-most title fight wins in the division’s history. Further, he stated that Zhang’s last fight was ‘the most dominant statistical win’ in UFC’s WMMA history. As such, he read the records Zhang made in that fight. Then, he moved on to Yan Xiaonan and listed her accolades in the UFC, including her last win against Jessica Andrade as a 2-1 underdog and having 8 first-round finishes.

The UFC strawweight champion Zhang Weili would enter the octagon after having one of the most dominant victories against Amanda Lemos. Also, on the other hand, Yan Xianon would be coming off a spectacular finish over Jesica Andrade. As such, this fight earned its place in the monumental card of UFC 300, taking place on 13 April in T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.

UFC CEO Dana White understood the fans’ expectations behind UFC 300 and promised to deliver massive fights. As such, he took all the necessary actions to maintain the suspense and edge the fans with excitement. Likewise, UFC 300 fights so far have made waves among the fans. However, they were disappointed with the recent fight announcement of Zhang Weili vs. Yan Xiaonan.

Dana White mentioned earlier announcing more fights after Tuesday’s matchmaking meeting. After failing to do so, he received backlash on the internet. However, he unveiled one of the multiple title fights for UFC 300 between two Chinese women, Zhang Weili vs Yan Xiaonan. Although he hyped the fight, fans weren’t buying it as they had huge expectations and were waiting too long. As such, here are a few interesting reactions from the fans:

Fans were disappointed about the UFC 300 fight announcement. As such, they questioned Dana White for making them wait too long. Only a few expressed their interest in the Weili vs. Xianon and acknowledged it as a great fight. Likewise, this would be a good addition to UFC 300. Moreover, Dana White mentioned announcing a couple more title fights for UFC 300 soon. So, it gave fans something more to expect.
