It is safe to say Dana White is not a fan of Paddy Pimblett’s regular weight gains in between fights. The UFC boss reveals the problems it causes in the matchmaking room.

Dana White is never going to shy away from letting his fighters know what he thinks of them. Even if he is one of the biggest prospects for the promotion and has a huge fan following. Paddy Pimblett, who is loved by everyone for his personality and his fighting, is notorious for gaining massive weight during his off-season. Paddy The Baddy, who fights in the 155-pound division goes up to as much as 200 pounds between his fights.

Though Paddy is a star and is treated well by the company, Dana believes it’s time the fighter laid off his crazy diet. On Tuesday, Dana spoke to the media ahead of the huge PPV card, UFC 278. White was asked about his opinion on Paddy going berserk with his diet during the off-season and Dana had this to say about it. “It’s not good for you. We all know that. We all know that fluctuating and cutting that much weight is very bad.”

Paddy’s rise in the UFC has been crazy and the promotion is very happy with how the future looks for the Liverpool fighter. However, White is a little disappointed that he and his crew can’t book Paddy for fights that are just one or two months apart even if it meant that the Scouser will be added to an already blockbuster card.

“It makes it tough for us too, because when we’re in the matchmaking room, we want to throw together a fight, maybe we can throw him on a card in a month, a month and a half, it hurts us too,” said White in the presser. One of the main reasons for these problems is that Paddy blows up in size and looks like he could never make 155 pounds in the span of two months. “We have to be very specific when we plan fights for him,” added White. “He’s nowhere near close to weight and what you don’t want to do is put that kind of pressure to cut that much weight in that short amount of time,” Dana speaks a lot of sense on this matter. Pimblett has also guaranteed that he would regulate his diets once he starts fighting ranked opponents.
