As such, Dana White announced Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill as the main attraction for UFC 300. He disclosed the news soon after the thrilling UFC 298 fights.

Dana White took to X to announce the UFC 300 main event. He disclosed Alex Pereira would put his light heavyweight title on the line against the former champion Jamahal Hill in UFC 300. Here is what he said:

I'm gonna announce the main event of UFC 300 right now. It will feature Alex Pereira defending his light heavyweight title against Jamahal Hill. It took him (Pereira) the shortest period of time in the history of the organization to win his middleweight title...Jamahal Hill who is the former light heavyweight champion who never lost the title but vacated his belt after tearing his Achilles last year.

Jamahal Hill reigned as the UFC light heavyweight champion after he won the title against Glover Teixeira at UFC 283. However, he vacated the belt before defending his title, citing an Achilles injury. After a series of events, Alex Pereira won the title at UFC 295 against Jiri Prochazka. As such, this fight had some stakes on it, with Hill wanting to prove he was still the best and Pereira wanting to solidify his status as the best combat sports athlete.

However, this came as a letdown for the fight fans since fans had high expectations for UFC 300. Earlier, fans speculated numerous matchups for the main event of UFC 300, including high-profile fights like Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler, Khamzat Chimaev vs. Leon Edwards, Israel Adesanya vs. Dricus Du Plessis, and more. But now the speculations have come to rest as Dana White finally unveiled the main event.

After postponing the announcement multiple times, UFC CEO Dana White finally unveiled the main event of UFC 300. As such, Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill would headline the historical card of UFC 300. So far, the centennial PPV has had numerous exciting fights, including big names like Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, Max Holloway, Aljamain Sterling, Bo Nickal, and more.
