Daniel Cormier and Tony Ferguson went on a Twitter feud after the latter accused Cormier of cheating on a weigh-in scale. It all started when Charles Oliveira recently failed to make the weight limit by 0.5 lbs at UFC 274 weigh-ins. Soon after, Oliveira went on to win the fight against Justin Gaethje and submitted him in the very first round. Despite winning the bout, the Brazilian didn’t take the belt home as it was stripped of him due to weight controversy.

Recently, Tony Ferguson, whom Charles Oliveira idolizes, took the Twitter and shared an old clip of Daniel Cormier from UFC 210 in which he initially missed the weight. After two minutes, Cormier came back and made the weight but it was controversial. Many claimed that Cormier cheated and grabbed the towel to make the weight.

Ferguson in his tweet pointed out that this is how athletes should not make weight. Ferguson claimed that DC should have stripped of his title back then like they did to Oliveira at ufc 274. In the end, ‘ El Cucuy’ gave a shout out to every fighter who is doing the weigh in correctly.

After Ferguson made that tweet, Cormier didn’t let that slide past. The former UFC double champion replied back by asking Ferguson to stop.

Daniel Cormier asked Ferguson to go back and take this time to rest his body, recollect his thoughts and spend time with his loved ones and stop this banter. DC pleaded with Ferguson not to continue this and it is not looking good and it is making him sad.

Tony please stop. Go and sit back for a little, tuck your head in a hole somewhere. Regroup man , recover spend some time with your family. Like just please stop! I plead with you. It is not a good look. Like you’re making me sad,” wrote Daniel Cormier on his Twitter.

However, soon after questions started pouring regarding his towel holding incident a Twitter user asked:

serious question..is pushing down on the towel allowed? seems it would make one appear lighter than they actually are. huge DC fan here..for clarification, but just wondering if that is now allowed.”

to which the former light heavyweight UFC champion responded saying: “If I did touch it at all I was literally making sure that it didn’t fall. I was right at 205 so I needed to be naked behind the towel”

Now this is upto fight fans either they would accept this argument of Cormier. Since there has been instances where towels were about to slip. However, UFC should find a better way of conducting these weigh-ins to avoid such controversies in future.
