“He has lost track” – Daniel Cormier expresses disbelief over Tony Ferguson declining Charles Oliveira’s offer
Daniel Cormier thinks Tony Ferguson is not in the right mindset
Daniel Cormier is shocked that Tony Ferguson would turn down the humble offer of UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. DC offers some advice to “El Cucuy”.
Daniel Cormier and Tony Ferguson might have beef in recent times but the DC has nothing but love for “El Cucuy”. Recently, following his loss to Michael Chandler in a brutal fashion, Tony Ferguson was offered an opportunity to train with his former rival and current lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira. However, Tony has turned down that offer believing he is still a threat to “Do Bronx”.
“He is in my weight class and I’m one of the only fighters he hasn’t finished,” said Tony in a recent interview. UFC commentator, DC reacted to this news and was shocked with the delusion of Ferguson to believe he is on the same level as Charles who is on his way to becoming one of the greatest of all time.
“It is kind of sad. The dude’s lost a lot of fighters in a row and the reason why Charles Oliveira extended that support is because he does not see him [Ferguson] as a threat anymore,” said Cormier on his show DC & RC. Tony lost to Charles in a three-round fight at UFC 256 via unanimous decision in 2020.

“It will be helpful” Daniel Cormier comments on Tony Ferguson training with Charles Oliveira
“If you saw them fight and the way that they competed with each other, Charles Oliveira training with Tony will be helpful for Tony,” said DC talking about the benefits of training with a champ like Oliveira. Cormier believes, Ferguson is not in the right state of mind currently given he is on a four-fight losing streak.
The former two-division champion believes Tony needs to take some time off and get his mind together. “It is kinda crazy to watch a guy really lose track of where he is,” said DC. Ferguson has not tasted victory in the octagon since the year 2019 and is still among the top-ten ranked fighters in the UFC lightweight division. However, it is very tricky as to who he might be matched up with for his future fights.
