“I would NOT advise that,” Daniel Cormier speaks of Nate Diaz’s chances of fighting in bare-knuckle boxing after enclosing UFC career
Nate Diaz- Daniel Cormier
As BKFC has allegedly approached Nate Diaz for some bare-knuckle boxing matches, Daniel Cormier seems to be not fond of that idea. Diaz wrapped up his illustrious UFC career spectacularly when he finished former interim-UFC lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, with a classic guillotine choke in the fourth round of his main event fight at UFC 279, which turned out to be the final fight of his last UFC contract. As Diaz leaves the world’s biggest MMA organization, he leaves a ton of avenues open in the next phase of his life.
Not so long ago, when Diaz was struggling to get his last UFC fight from the authorities, he indicated to go for boxing matches once he was done with MMA. In doing so, he even posted a clip of Youtuber-cum-boxer Jake Paul knocking out former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. On the other side of the fence, even Paul cited in multiple interviews that the Diaz fight was the one he was eager to have in his professional boxing record.
Daniel Cormier believes that Nate Diaz has left the UFC door open for himself regardless of other options
Eventually, when the time came, Diaz made a major surprising announcement amongst the MMA community and told the world about pursuing being a combat sports promoter through his newly built agency, Real Fight Inc. Diaz has already filed for his promoter’s licence in Nevada. In one of the videos on his YouTube channel, UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier discusses the very possibilities that are on Diaz’s table outside of the UFC.
“The UFC is a little bit worse today because Nate Diaz is not there anymore,” says Cormier. “I think next he’s gonna box Jake Paul, and if he doesn’t… there’s some interesting things out there for him. Mike Perry in bare-knuckle boxing, interesting! But I would not advise that for Nate Diaz… so Diaz has options… but he did leave the door open to come back…” he continued.
What do you make of Diaz potentially fighting former UFC welterweight Mike Perry in the near future? Do you think that fight will happen and if yes, who do you think wins in a bare-knuckle boxing match? Do you resonate with Cormier’s reluctance to see Diaz in a bare-knuckle boxing fight against Perry? What do you make of Nate Diaz vs Jake Paul in a professional boxing match? Who do you think wins that?
