Darren Elkins and Tristan Connelly fight a war at UFC Vegas 53

UFC Vegas 53 hosts a very interesting featherweight battle between Darren Elkins and Tristan Connelly on the main card.

UFC Vegas 53 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight night is headlined by the very crucial bantamweight fight between Rob Font and Marlon Vera. On the second fight of the main card, there are two featherweight veterans taking on each other in a three-round battle.

Darren Elkins has been part of the UFC for more than a decade now. The fighter has a record of 27-10-0 in his professional mixed martial arts career and is looking to take on Connelly who has a record of 14-7-0. Darren got his two-fight winning streak snapped by legend Cub Swanson at the end of last year. Tristan on the other hand is coming off a defeat against Pat Sabatini at UFC 261. There is no doubt this fight at UFC on ESPN 35 will end up being a brawl.

Darren Elkins gets the better of Tristan Connelly

Round 1 Touch of gloves for both fighters. Elkins immediately connects with two big rights and goes straight to the takedown. Darren gets the back and transitions to a mount. Both the fighters trying to get off with some strikes on the ground. Both the fighters are back on their feet. Tristan gives a right hand back. Another takedown for Darren. Ground and pound for the veteran. Big elbows from both the fighters to end the round.

Round 2 Great exchange from both the fighters. A low kick from Connelly but Darren returns with a right hand. Elkins with great strikes on his opponent. Both the fighters are on the fence as Elkins shows great cardio on Connelly. Elkins takedown Connelly and looks for ground and pound. Great combination from Tristan as he lands consecutive strikes on the veteran.

Round 3 Amazing jabs from Elkins. A jumping knee to the body from Connelly does not connect well. A hook from Tristan that cuts open Elkins followed by an elbow. Great upper cut from Darren followed by a right hand. Tristan is shook but still walking forward. Clean right hand from Connelly that tests Elkins’ chin. Darren gets the takedown. Huge shots from Elkins to the face and looks for the choke but Tristan manages to get out of the choke. What a fight!
