Darren Till pulls out of UFC London due to a devastating injury, Chris Curtis to be short notice replacement
Till has been pulled from the UFC London card due to an injury to be replaced by Chris Curtis
Darren Till is all out of luck and Chris Curtis is here to capitalize on it. The scouser was scheduled to face Jack Hermansson in London for what was supposed to be his bounce back from the horrendous performance against Derek Brunson. However as of 7th July, Till has had to pull out of the bout due to an undisclosed injury.
Till who was not a part of UFC’s return to London earlier this year was eager to be on July card alongside fellow English superstars like Paddy Pimblett and Tom Aspinal. However, it seems it was written in the stars as Darren will have to wait longer to perform in front of his home crowd. A feeling he’s never had since his Ko loss to Jorge Masvidal.
Till’s return was highly anticipated not just by the English crowd but the wider base he has gained since associating with Khamzat Chimaev. Most were curious as to if the training with Chimaev had been fruitful and could help Till get back to his winning ways. Now the wait will have to be longer.
Chris Curtis to replace Darren Till at UFC London
However, fans of the card can breathe a sigh of relief as the UFC was able to find a quick short-notice replacement in Chis Curtis. “The Action Man” has been on a tear since his UFC debut in 2021, most recently coming from a dominant decision victory over Rodolfo Vieira at UFC Vegas 57.
This will be the second time in Curtis’ short UFC career that he’ll be replacing another fighter at short notice. Previously he stepped in for Roman Dolidze on short notice against Brendal Allen, eventually winning the fight via TKO.
Hermansson was looking to fight Till on his home soil which was a difficult proposition as English fans are notorious for their hostility when home-town fighter are involved. He cn calm his nerves much better now, that he’s facing an American who has never been tested at the top ranks of the UFC. Jack is trying to bounce back from his split decision loss against Sean Strickland.
Curtis posted to Twitter celebrating the huge opportunity provided to him saying, “Who dares, wins.See you all in London.” Long having been waiting to prove himself, Curtis also took the time to correct a fan who felt that Jack was an easy opponent, showing the ultimate competitive spirit.
