The MMA fandom has taken to the friendship between Khamzat Chimaev and Darren Till like peanut butter and jelly. In fact, they love the duo so much one among the community has bestowed the ultimate honor a fighter can receive from fans, a weirdly placed tattoo.

The duo of Khanzat and Darren initially met on an Instagram live started by Till where Till introduced Chimaev to his wife and Chimaev introduced Till to his trustworthy knife. After Till’s bout against Derek Brunson where he was easily finished by Brunson, the scouser finally decided to shake up things in camp and started training with Chimaev at the Allstar Training Gym.

Through the rigorous training sessions grew a friendship that blossomed into a heartthrob of the MMA community. This was essentially due to them being the same over-enthusiastic personalities just from different cultures. The pair would then be seen around the world from London to Las Vegas where they would train hard all day and be out on the town by night.

All of this was published on the Blockasset YouTube channel that ultimately got them the nickname “Smesh Bros” an homage to the game Smash Bros and a caucus region slang for wrestling. Till and Chimaev embraced the nickname and have even promised to be in each other’s corners for future fights.

Till was seen in Khamzat’s corner during his fight with Gilbert Burns where the duo got an iconic shot where Chimaev was sitting on top of the cage with Till standing on a stool behind him. Khamzat won the bout via a decision in what was considered by many to be the best fight of 2022 until then.

Today Darren Till reacted to a fan tattoo of himself and his friend. The middleweight said “It was an honor to see this” about the tattoo that covers Till on the tibia and Chimaev on the calf.

Darren is scheduled to face Jack Hermansson in his return to the cage. Chimaev faced Hermansson in a friendly grappling match where many felt Chimaev constantly had the upper hand despite him fighting a division below the Swede. Chimaev is rumored to be targeting an interim Title bout against Leon Edwards considering Kamaru Usman’s uncertain future surrounding injuries.
