“I nearly wanted to quit” – Darren Till thanks Khamzat Chimaev for motivating him during training at All Stars
Darren Till reacts to recent training footage with Khamzat Chimaev
Darren Till has not had it easy with his fighting career in recent years. The Liverpool star has been dealing with injuries frequently. Injuries take a serious toll on your motivation to hit the gym but Till is lucky to have a monster like Khamzat Chimaev in the gym to help him push through tough sessions.
Darren Till was scheduled to fight at UFC London this past weekend in the O2 Arena. His fight against Jack Hermansson was one of the most-anticipated bouts on the card. Unfortunately, Darren fell victim to yet another injury that caused him to back out of the bout. This was a huge blow to the Liverpool star’s momentum given he was training very hard with his new camp in Sweden at the famous All-Star gym.
Khamzat Chimaev has been a phenom throughout his MMA career and has found a friend in Darren. Recently, a video surfaced on the internet that showed Till giving his all in the gym after pulling out of the fight due to an injury. Darren, earlier today tweeted more exclusive videos of his training session and gave an insight into what went behind the scenes.
“Thank you brother” – says Darren Till to Khamzat Chimaev
“Today was one of them days I nearly wanted to quit. 1 hour S&C & straight after 3X5’s ground & pound & pads. Thank you @khamzat_chimaev for pushing me each day brother. Thnk u @mohammadbabadivand for the training. Waiting for all the technique experts to comment on my post now,” wrote Darren in his recent tweet.
Darren is coming off a submission defeat to Derek Brunson in 2021. Till was a huge prospect at the welterweight division and even fought for the title. The fighter was believed to be a champion at the beginning of his UFC career. But ever since his move to the middleweight division, Till has gone 1-2 and has pulled out of fights due to injuries.
Training with Khamzat surely has helped the scouser mentally, more than anything. “Borz” is training for his fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 279. This will be the first time Khamzat headlines a fight in the UFC. He is already a huge star and there is no doubt he will be reaching great heights in his career.
