Middleweight fighter Derek Brunson has parted ways with the UFC after the news about his release went online. His 11-year association with the UFC came to an end recently. The 185-pounder was set to fight Roman Dolidze at UFC 295. But reportedly, this bout is canceled due to Brunson’s release. However, Brunson has already moved on from UFC and has future plans. After news about his release, Brunson took to Twitter to hint at his further plans.

The middleweight reposted a 2021 post from Jake Paul, which said, “Dana(White) admitted this morning that I would destroy “170” pound Masvidal.. So Dana will you give Brunson permission to make some real money? Dana?” Brunson tweeted on his repost saying, ” JAKE . JAKE . JAKE @jakepaul“. Brunson has enjoyed an active career with a record of 23-9 in the sport of MMA. Before his release, the middleweight ranked 11th in the 185 roster.

The YouTuber Jake Paul has made a name for himself in boxing. He is famously known for taking on MMA fighters in the boxing ring. His recent bout came against former UFC fighter Nate Diaz. Paul’s fights get a lot of attention from boxing fans and have also sold out several events. This leads to massive pay for both parties involved.

After Brunson’s retirement, a possible fight against the YouTuber could occur. Brunson is looking for a payday, as Paul could definitely deliver one. However, Paul is rumored to challenge Tommy Fury in a rematch. Looking at Paul’s history, the Brunson fight could eventually happen. However, it might not end well for Brunson.

Following Derek Brunson’s release, the fight with Roman Dolidze is scrapped off

UFC middleweight Derek Brunson’s release caught a lot of MMA fans off-guard. The fighter was set to fight Roman Dolidze at UFC 295 card. In a statement from his manager Ali Abdelaziz, Brunson parted ways with the UFC after his 21 fights. This led to the calling off of the Dolidze fight.

In the middleweight division, Brunson is one of the most experienced names. His fights against top middleweights like Anderson Silva, Dricus Du Plessis, and Israel Adesanya made him a credible fighter. His UFC 295 opponent Dolidze, hinted towards Brunson’s release before any official statement. Dolidze shared the news of Bruson pulling out of the fight.

Brunson’s release could lead to different alternatives for Dolidze for future matchups. Dolidze has also asked for opponents like Robert Whittaker and Jared Cannonier after the news of his scrapped fight.
