“Proud of you son,” Derek Brunson trolls Kevin Holland on Father’s Day following Holland’s victory at UFC Austin
Derek Brunson & Kevin Holland
UFC Weleterweight Kevin Holland seems no more closer to his tough times of back to back losses again but UFC Middleweight Derek Brunson won’t leave a chance to remind his victory over Holland to people and of course, Holland back when they fought in 2021. Holland who faced 2 fight skid and a no-contest in 2021, is back to his winning ways and is now on a 2-fight winning streak with his ambitions settled down at welterweight out of the 170 lbs division and the middleweight.
Holland’s last victory is an astonishing submission win over an incredibly durable opponent in longtime UFC fighter Tim Means at UFC Austin. Holland’s first win in 2022 came at UFC 272 when he knocked out Alex Oliveira. Derek Brunson on the other hand is nowhere close to having a fight and last fought at UFC 271 when he was defeated in the second round via TKO by Jared Cannonier, who is now challenging for UFC’s middleweight title next month against the champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 276.

Derek Brunson remembers Kevin Holland as his ‘son’ and claims to make difference in the latter’s life
Brunson and Holland both fought each other last year and Brunson won the fight via unanimous decision by dominantly exposing Holland’s then weaknesses on the ground game. It was loss to Brunson and another UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori that Holland decided to work on his grappling. On the course of it, Holland realised his body and performance being better at welterweight than middleweight.
Brunson took to Twitter on Father’s Day and said “So proud of you son @Trailblaze2top . Happy Father’s Day to all of the fathers out there ! Who make a difference in their child’s life and teach lessons! [joined hands emoji]” This statement was a caption to the picture where a father is holding his baby boy and both are dressed the same, but there’s a little photoshop being done. The father’s face is replaced with Brunson’s and the son’s face is replaced by Holland’s.
What do you make of this trolling done by Brunson over Holland? Is it just light-hearted or to take a nasty dig at Holland reminding him who made him take grappling seriously? Do you think if their fight was to have happened now, Holland would’ve given Brunson a hard time? Also, do you see Holland as a legit UFC champion in future now?
