“We’ll make it happen one day”- Despite Dana White’s claims, Donald Cerrone would love to re-book his the fight against Joe Lauzon
Donald Cerrone
UFC veterans, Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon were supposed to fight on the main card of UFC 274, both of them weighed in, shook hands, and went to sleep last month, ready to compete at UFC 274. Then Cerrone became unwell and had to withdraw from the competition.
Fortunately, the fight between these two wasn’t scraped, and they were all set to face each other at UFC Austin: Kattar vs Emmett, and just like last time, they weighed in, shook hands, and just as Lauzon was getting dressed after the weigh-in, his knee popped out from the socket, and he was forced to pull out from the fight.
This fight was canceled at the last minute and there was nothing anything could’ve done to make things better. Many fans compared this fight to the Khabib vs Tony clash (which was canceled 5 times.) Joe apologized to his fans, and now he revealed the good news that he has completely recovered from his injury.
Donald Cerrone wasn’t mad at Joe Lauzon for pulling out from their fight at UFC Austin
Dana too compared this fight to Tony vs Khabib, and he said, he wouldn’t even try to re-book this fight, he said, “That thing (Cerone vs Lauzon) is getting like Tony and Khabib, (and) No, I will not book that fight again.”
Cerrone however, wouldn’t mind squaring against him for a third time, talking to ESPN, he said, “Joe texted me and said, ‘Sorry, brother. I can’t stand on my leg,’ and I was like, ‘Well, we’re (1-1) now, ain’t we? Joe is a game dude, so it’s not like he’s making something up. I know Joe just wouldn’t pull anything, so heal up brother, and we’ll make it happen one day.”
Talking about the fight, he said, “Of course [I’d like that fight]. I don’t know what’s wrong with his knee or how long it’s going to take, but we’re already in the talks. We’ll hear real soon.”
