Helwani had no knowledge the places the cap had been before ending up in his studio
Paulo Costa made his first appearance in the MMA hour studio in over 5 years and Ariel Helwani was more than happy to have him. However, what he didn’t realize was that you cannot blindly accept gifts from Costa as you can have no idea what they have been through.
The very same occurred when the Brazilian gifted a cap that belonged to Khamzat Chimaev to Ariel. Happily, Ariel accepted the hat, which now has two photos glued to it, and even offered to display it on his studio’s shelf. What Helwani didn’t realize was that it was the very same cap Costa had violently rubbed against his bare crotch just a week ago.
You read that right, and as disgusting as the act itself may sound, with this information, watching Helwani hold that cap becomes even more difficult and downright gross. The cap was originally in the hands of The Schmo, who showed it to Costa when he was in studio with Henry Cejudo.
On confirming that the hat belonged to Chimaev, Costa snatched it from the hands of the Schmo, put it inside his pants and rubbed it all over his crotch, daring Chimaev to come take the hat. This very same hat was the one Ariel offered to put up on his shelf but just before he could Costa suggested that he should sniff it cause he “added fragrance” to the hat. Ariel, not knowing where the hat has been gladly agreed and unknowingly created the most disgusting segment in the MMA Hour’s History.

Paulo Costa calls out Khamzat Chimaev
The roots of the rivalry between Khamzat Chimaev and Costa were sown when the Brazilian shared some memes via Twitter targeting the Chechen. Chimaev would confront Costa about the same, the next day in the UFC Performance Institute. It turned out to be a PR disaster for him as he was accompanied by an entire posse while Costa was there alone.

Moreover Chimaev was usually animated, hurling obscenities at Costa while the other was calm and cool, willing to walk over to Chimaev. On his appearance at the MMA hour, Costa even went as far as to take credit for being the reason that Chimaev couldn’t make weight.
Costa has proposed Chimaev to come to take his hat and hype from him as he has been repeatedly challenging Chimaev for a middleweight bout. Khamzat has avoided entertaining the fight as he believes Costa was already beaten by Adesanya and has nothing special to offer.
