“I’m ready”- Dominick Cruz reveals the potential timeline for his return to the octagon

Dominick Cruz is a great legend in mixed martial arts. At 36 years old, he has multiple UFC bantamweight titles and is still one of the best competitors in the division. His next move will be fascinating, as he is now trying a last-ditch bid for the title. Cruz is ranked No. 7 in the world at bantamweight and has won his last two bouts.

He’s determined to retake the division’s top spot, and he’s indicated his desire to do so as soon as possible. His last defeat was a title fight. In the co-main event of UFC 249 on Saturday, Henry Cejudo fought Dominick Cruz for the UFC Bantamweight title and won.

Since Dominick is on a good run to get a shot back at the title. His potential opponent could be Sean O’Malley, which is a fan-liked matchup. The fight might not do much to get Cruz to the title shot he wants. However, pairing him against Cruz would make a big-time fight that would draw plenty of mainstream attention. Another contender fight could be Jose Aldo, Both fighters are former champions and title challengers looking to get back to the title in the second half of their career.

Dominick Cruz himself has claimed that he believes José Aldo will be his most difficult next opponent. With the two boxers frequently rated as the greatest bantamweight and featherweight of all time, this would be a dream match. Given that both boxers are presently competing in the same division, this might be the right time.

In a recent interview with The Schmo, Dominick Cruz was asked when will he make a return to the octagon, Schmo asked, “In a perfect world when will you like to return?” Cruz responded eagerness “This year, I’m ready, I mean I am training non-stop. I just wanna face somebody who’s above me in the division. Not underneath on the ladder, I don’t deserve anything but moving up the ladder doesn’t sound like anything but fair” 

Cruz has made some coherent points. He is a true veteran of the sport who has previously faced guys below him in the rankings post his last defeat. Granting him a fight that gets him closer to the title is what he deserves. Dominick has looked good in his previous fights, true fight fans would appreciate his unique style and would be curious to see if the veteran can hold up to endeavors and indeed finally become the champion at his weight division.
