Donald Cerrone

MMA Legend Donald Cerrone definitely deserves a spot in the UFC Hall of Fame when it’s all said and done in his career. Cerrone is back into the Octagon after a year layoff at UFC 274 when he will face another fan-favourite legend of this sport in Joe Lauzon. Cerrone and Lauzon are both all-rounder fighters who are good on their feet and on the ground, but Cerrone is known for his eye-catching kickboxing arsenal and Lauzon for his scary grappling skillset.

Besides being a longtime UFC fighter, Cerrone is also a WEC veteran. Cerrone at one point in time had the record for most finishes and wins in UFC history a few years ago. Now, UFC Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira is known for most finishes and another MMA legend, Jim Miller has the record for most wins in the promotion. An interesting fact is that Cerrone has won over both Oliveira and Miller in his career. Other important wins include Al Iaquinta, Mike Perry, Alexander Hernandez, Matt Brown, Melvin Guillard and many more.

Cerrone talks about his fight for the legacy, his comeback process and on an emotional note, his reason for coming back which does not happen to be at UFC Apex for a Fight Night, but after a very long time, in a sold-out arena with a stacked pay-per-view event.

It’s not me, it’s my son,” says Cerrone as he starts tearing up more and more as he speaks further. “To walk out that tunnel, it’s the look on his face. So that’s what I cannot wait to see, he finally knows what I do, you know. Crazy how humble I get… Anytime I was working out and I didn’t wanna do it, that’s what I thought of, you know. Can’t f**king wait, cannot wait to see him smile…” continued Cerrone concluding that’s why he wanted to do the fight in a stacked card with an arena filled with fans.
