Donald Cerrone announced his retirement from fighting at UFC 276 and claimed that he still intends to be a part of MMA, but not competitively.
The 39-year-old veteran fighter addressed his octagon interview statements during the UFC 276 post-fight press conference, adding that he still enjoyed MMA but wasn’t appreciative of the need to train some more. He even indicated that he would continue to visit the UFC’s Performance Institute and even attend the promotion’s fight events.
In an interview with Megan Olivi, The Cowboy even tells how he plans on letting himself go, due to his retirement. He tells, “Well I won’t look like this anymore. This body is gone. You’re gonna see, Thor, the big fat Thor, that is where I am going. I look back on that like, ‘Man I wonder what it was like when I used to work out.”
Donald Cerrone desires induction into the UFC Hall of Fame
Donald Cerrone stated in his post-fight interview that he now wants to focus on his acting career and hopes to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame one day.
He tells in his interview, “I’m gonna be a movie star, baby. So, it’s time to bow out… This is the perfect event, man. Sold out crowd, Las Vegas, talking to you, got my boys, one hell of career, man. Hopefully, one day I’m in the Hall of Fame and thank you so much UFC.”
Following his announcement to retire, the MMA community, including UFC fighters Belal Muhmmad, Michael Chiesa, and Bryce Mitchell, expressed love for the veteran fighter on social media for a glorious career.
