Former U.S. President Donald Trump is an enthusiastic supporter of MMA and frequently attends UFC events. He has formed positive relationships with fighters and UFC President Dana White. Trump openly admires the fighters’ abilities and recently shared his passion for the UFC and other insights during an appearance on the UFC unfiltered podcast.
The former President was joined by UFC legend Matt Serra and comedian Jim Norton on the podcast. During the podcast, Trump spoke about his appreciation for UFC legend and Hall Of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov. He praised the ‘Eagle’ by saying “I think Khabib was great, and it looks like he probably never comes back. I asked Dana are you going to get him back? He was a seriously good fighter!”.
Trump’s praise for the Dagestani fighter has outmatched that of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He has met up with Khabib and his father, the late Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov after his win over Conor McGregor at UFC 229. Putin congratulated Nurmagomedov and asked his father “not to punish him too severely” for the infamous brawl that followed after the fight.
Khabib’s retirement was met with mixed reactions. Some fans were disappointed that he would not fight again. Others respected his decision to retire from the sport. Nirmagomedov is widely considered one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, and his retirement certainly left a void in the sport.

Will Khabib Nurmagomedov ever return?
Many fans have speculated the ‘Eagle’s’ return to MMA as multiple videos of him training and grappling have surfaced on the internet post his retirement. Nurmagomedov regularly posts videos of him training at the American Kickboxing Academy. He is also known for his hardcore training and coaching methods.
Nurmagomedov’s former coach Javier Mendez commented on the rumors of a potential return. In an interview with MMA Junkie, he said “It’s not like he doesn’t grapple. He grapples all the time. So, he hasn’t stopped training, he just doesn’t train to fight. But he still does his cardio, he still grapples with the guys, because he always tells me, ‘How are the guys going to get ready for my level if they never know my level?”.
Mendez also said that a legacy fight is what will bring Khabib back for a fight. Fans eagerly anticipate the return of the former lightweight champion as he was one of the best grapplers in UFC history.
