Former US President Donald Trump is known to be a keen follower of the UFC. He has attended numerous UFC events, and he has even been involved in the promotion of the sport. He recently gave a speech at the Turning Point Action platform where he praised UFC welterweight Colby Covington. Covington is known to be a long-time fan of Trump.

The UFC welterweight took to Twitter to post a video of Trump talking about him at the event. In the video, the former President can be seen saying, “He’s a champion fighter in the UFC. He’s got a huge fight ahead of him, I don’t know how they take 400-500 shots to the head. He’s here with us champion Colby Covington“.

Trump also joked by saying, “If I ever saw him on the street I would say I could take him, but it would be over fast. If I was trying to impress somebody it would not be impressive.” The former President also wished Covington good luck for his fight and said that he will try to be there. Fans were shocked seeing this as Trump recently praised Covington’s rival Kamaru Usman in an interview and didn’t even mention him.

The relationship between Trump and Covington has been controversial. Covington campaigned for Trump in the presidential election, and he even wore a “Make America Great Again” hat to his UFC fight against Tyron Woodley.

It is clear that Covington is a strong contender for the welterweight championship and is currently preparing to face off against current champion, Leon Edwards. Although the official fight announcement has not been made, “Chaos” is already strategizing for his first title defense.

During the Turning Point Action event, he was invited as a guest speaker and was asked about a possible fight with McGregor. Covington expressed his belief that a fight between him and renowned UFC superstar Conor McGregor would be the most anticipated fight in the UFC. He said, “I think Conor’s gonna have some things to say when I get that welterweight title in a couple of months. I think before next winter Conor and I square up, and we see who the baddest man on the planet is“.

A fight between Covington and McGregor will be an entertaining matchup as the two are known for their trash talk. Fans will be looking forward to Covington’s return to the octagon.
