Colby Covington found himself unexpectedly in the spotlight when Donald Trump gave a speech in Arizona. The former President took the opportunity to roast the fighter playfully during his speech. Despite their long-standing relationship, Trump’s backhanded compliments caught Covington off guard.
Colby Covington stood in close proximity when Trump addressed the Republican supporters in Arizona. Trump gave a special mention to the former interim champion. While most of it consisted of praise, Donald Trump did sneak in a few remarks that the fighter might not have liked.
I love Colby but I'm gonna have to bet against him but I didn't because I didn't have the courage and I bet for him and I won a lot of money with ya. I look at him, looks like a regular, normal human being until the clothing comes off.Donald Trump via X

Covington has actively supported Donald Trump, promoting his political ideologies on multiple occasions. The fighter has emphasized Trump’s ability to restore glory to the US and has criticized Joe Biden by highlighting Trump’s superiority. Despite the friendly jibe, Colby took it in great strides and did not create much controversy.
Trump was present as the special guest at UFC 296, where Covington faced Leon Edwards for the UFC welterweight title. Despite major claims, ‘Chaos’ underperformed and lost the bout. The fighter even went on to claim that the judges robbed him because he was a Trump supporter. It looks like the Trump-Colby friendship will continue to prevail as the former President attempts to regain his position as the ‘POTUS.’
