Leon Edwards takes on Colby Covington in a heated matchup this weekend in UFC 296. Now, there were more eyes on the matchup after ‘Chaos’ crossed the line with his trash-talk during the UFC 296 press conference. As such, the popular music star Drake bet a huge amount on ‘Rocky’ to knock Covington out and end their feud.

Drake had been a longtime MMA enthusiast and often bets a lumpsum amount on big fights. As such, he bet $250,000 on Leon Edwards to finish Colby Covington by knockout. This would earn him a return of a whopping 1.2 million if ‘Rocky’ manages to knock out ‘Chaos’. Further, he posted a screenshot of his wager on Instagram and sent a message to Edwards in his captions.

Head shot pls and thank you @leonedwardsmma

Drake referred to the iconic knockout Leon Edwards produced at UFC 278 against Kamaru Usman. As such, he wanted a ‘headshot’ knock-out to put Colby Covington down. This message from the Canadian star reached ‘Rocky’ and he replied to the post positively. Edwards said ‘Let’s get it’ in the comments and showered hope on Drake’s belief in him.

Leon Edwards is coming off a win over Kamaru Usman in his first title defense. Now, he goes after Colby Covington who’s coming off a dominant win over Jorge Masvidal. This would mark the second title defense for ‘Rocky’. As such, Drake believed in the knockout abilities of Edwards and bet a quarter million at stake on Edwards to KO Covington at UFC 296.

Leon Edwards hit back at Drake when he bet against him at UFC 278

Leon Edwards vs. Kamaru Usman went down at UFC 278 in August 2022. The former was a huge underdog as ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ reigned down the welterweight division as a dominant champion. As such, many wrote off Edwards’ chances of winning. The Canadian-American singer Drake was no different. However, ‘Rocky’ produced one of the most spectacular comeback knockouts of all time.

Drake staked $200,000 on Kamaru Usman to win. As such, Kamaru Usman rag-dolled Leon Edwards for most of their fight. But ‘Rocky’ knocked the champion out cold in the last minute of their fight to grab the UFC gold. With this, Edwards put a dent in the bank account of the singer. Also, he had a few words to say to him at the post-fight press conference. Here is what he said:

Next time, bet on me, get more Rolexes that you gave Molly and Paddy. Send one my way.

Now, after over a year, Drake has learned his lesson as he bet $250,000 on Leon Edwards to knock out his opponent Colby Covington. As such, ‘Rocky’ takes on the brash-talking American in the main event of UFC 296. Words were exchanged and there was bad blood boiling between them. Everything would be settled inside the octagon in a few hours.
