Drake places a massive $400k bet on Justin Gaethje ahead of UFC 274
Drake has placed a massive $400k bet on Justin Gaethje after losing almost $300k betting on Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272
Seems like one of the biggest rappers and entrepreneurs in the world has a keen interest in MMA, although he might not be the most knowledgeable about the sport. Canadian artist Drake made his first appearance in the MMA community when he walked out with Conor McGregor holding the Irish flag and the ceremonial weigh-ins for his bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.
Conor suffered a beatdown at the hands of Khabib with him only being able to display some semblance of retaliation in the third round. Ever since then the “Drake Curse” as been a staple joke among the combat sports community, wherein a fighter who is seen with or supported by Drake, surely loses their upcoming bout, this was seen in Anthony Joshua’s US debut against Andy Ruiz as well when he was knocked out in Round 7 of their boxing match.
When he’s not laying curses by being seen with fighters, the rapper can be often seen placing massive bets on fighters who have a slim chance at victory. Today Drake placed a $427000 bet on the challenger, Justin Gaethje in the upcoming fight at UFC 274 against champion Charles Oliveira

Drake lost a huge $275000 bet he placed on Jorge Masvidal before UFC 272
Previously he placed a bet of $275000 at UFC 272, on the Miami native Jorge Masvidal. It was widely believed in the community that Jorge had nothing to offer against Covington’s wrestling and would be dominated on the ground for all 5 rounds. The bout went exactly the way many predicted and Drizzy lost another fortune betting on MMA.
While many have been quick to claim that the rapper betting on Justin is a sure tell that Charles Oliveira will be the winner of the fight, it is true that Justin has a puncher’s chance and Oliveira has been very hittable in the past. If Justin wins, Drake would get a total payout amounting to CA$ 1375000.
This weekend, Justin Gaethje will be the only one eligible to walk away with the title if he wins, as Charles Oliveira has missed weight and will be ineligible to win his own title. Do you think this is just another bad MMA bet from Drake or is the Canadian sensation on to something?
