This response from Dricus Du Plessis reveals a great deal about his opinion of Khamzat’s abilities. The Khamzat vs. Usman winner would receive a middleweight championship opportunity, as promised by Dana White. It should be noted that Du Plessis had the opportunity to fight Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title at UFC 293, but had to pull out due to injury.

Chimaev has a long road ahead of him in the middleweight division. He needs to prove his mettle, especially to Du Plessis who remains disenchanted with Khamzat’s skill. Fight fans would love to see where this rivalry will lead to between Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chiamaev.
