UFC superstar Conor McGregor is a pioneer in the sport. His brash personality and fighting performances have made him the biggest name in MMA. The fighter has been out of activity for more than two years. Finally, the ‘Notorious’ is set to take on Michael Chandler later this year. Since his two-year lay-off, fans doubt the fighting ability of the Irishman. However, his longtime rival spoke in support of him.
On an episode of ‘The MMA Hour,’ hosted by popular MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, one of McGregor’s fiercest rivals was questioned on the bout. The Irishman’s long-time rival and opponent, Dustin Poirier, gave his thoughts on the match-up.
Poirier was asked about his predictions on the fight. “I’ve got that question a bunch. If he [Conor McGregor] comes back similar to who he was before he left, I think he stops Michael Chandler,” answered Poirier. Ariel Helwani responded to the statement by providing the hesitancy of wrestling and the tendency to brawl for Chandler.
Dustin Poirier responded, “If Conor was who he was before the injury, the fight’s over in two rounds.” Despite being the arch nemesis of Conor McGregor, the ‘Diamond’ has shown his support for the Irish fighter.
Conor McGregor’s infamous post-fight speech against Dustin Poirier

UFC stars Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor were set to take each other on in a trilogy fight at UFC 264. In their previous exchanges, both fighters had a win over the other. The third fight was set to confirm the better fighter between them.
The fight was combative, and both fighters were trading solid strikes and takedowns at each other. However, towards the end of the first round, McGregor broke his ankle. This made the fighter fall and shell up, and Poirier proceeded to attack him. The fight was ruled a TKO doctor’s stoppage loss for Conor McGregor, and the winner was Dustin Poirier.
Despite suffering a loss, the Irishman was not humble in defeat. The now-infamous post-fight interview witnessed an angry McGregor yelling at Dustin Poirier and his wife. As he was being interviewed, he said, “I was boxing the bleedin’ head off him, kickin’ the bleedin’ leg off him. This is not over, if I had to take this outside with him, it’s on outside, I don’t give a bol*****.“
Conor McGregor proceeded to attack Dustin Poirier’s wife. “Your wife is in my DM’s. Hey baby, hit me back and we’ll chat later on. You look in bits, you little h**,” yelled the Irish fighter. Although fans thought it was unethical, this was an entertaining post-fight speech from the ‘Notorious.’
