Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz facing off at UFC 300 remains a dream scenario for many fans. The two never did end up locking horns in the octagon. They almost fought each other at UFC 230, but various problems led to the bout cancelation. Poirier has not fought since his knockout loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 291. Recently, the fighter cleared the air around his inactivity and desired to fight at UFC 300.

Nate Diaz has started to post cryptic tweets about his return following the Jake Paul boxing bout. The cryptic tweets even led Poirier to reply to Diaz on X. A fan account, @NateDiazShadow, tagged Poirier on X, asking if there was a chance for a face-off at UFC 300. To which the fighter blatantly added:

The two had a fiery staredown at UFC 230 (25th Anniversary), which fueled more expectations. Hopes for a face-off were reinstigated again, with Diaz dropping a teaser for a UFC 300 comeback very recently.

Back in early 2023, “Diamond” had labeled Diaz as the one who got away. Diaz faced Tony Ferguson before leaving the UFC. Any fight against Poirier will have to come under the UFC banner. This also means that Diaz and the UFC will need to agree on a new contract before booking a fight against Poirier. The chances of that happening remain slim at the moment.
