“He’s a cartoon character” – Dustin Poirier calls Colby Covington’s MMA career a disgrace and trashes the former ATT member

Dustin Poirier blasts Colby Covington for his behavior as a professional MMA fighter
Dustin Poirier’s heart is filled with abhorrence for his former teammate at American Top Team, Colby Covington.
Dustin Poirier, one of the nicest guys in the world of mixed martial arts barely shows hate towards anyone in the game. Even his biggest rival Conor McGregor, who keep in mind has abused Dustin and his wife on multiple occasions ranks higher on Dustin’s chart for likeness than Colby Covington. This should say a lot about the kind of relationship Dustin and Covington share.
Louisianna’s finest recently went on The MMA Hour show hosted by Ariel Helwani to talk about his MMA career. During the interview, Poirier was asked about where his “hate” for Covington stems from, and “The Diamond” went off on “The Chaos” who currently trains in Miami, Florida.
“He is everything I dislike about mixed martial arts,” said Poirier talking about two-time welterweight title contender. Dustin does not appreciate Covington assassinating the character of his opponents in the name of “promoting the fight”. This is not the first time a fighter has resonated with the opinion of Colby crossing the line in his trash-talking.

Dustin Poirier believes Colby Covington is a sellout

“He is a cartoon character. Everything he does is for an extra click, view, and none of it’s authentic,” said Dustin taking on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. Though Dustin hates everything about Colby he does not take away the talents of Covington inside the octagon. “He can wrestle, he is tough. I have been around him for years.”
Dustin would try his best to not fight someone like Colby purely because he does not want the “phony” rival making any prosper out of his name. Dustin has been sidelined since December of 2021 when he lost to Charles Oliveira in his second lightweight title fight. The fighter is looking to get back into the octagon and wouldn’t want to wait another 4 to 5 months for his next fight.
