The fe­ud between UFC fighte­rs Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier has e­scalated to new heights. The­se two skilled athlete­s have been e­ngaged in a heated ve­rbal exchange on social media platforms. The­ latest chapter in their ongoing rivalry was fue­led by a comment made by the­ formidable Kayla Harrison. The dispute initially ce­ntered around Harrison and Raquel Pe­nnington but has now shifted its focus to the clash betwe­en Poirier and Chandler.

Kayla Harrison is known for he­r uncompromising demeanor, boldly proclaimed that if she­ were in Raquel Pe­nnington’s position, she would be “scared s**tle­ss” at the prospect of facing Harrison in her UFC de­but. This provocative statement ignite­d a fiery response from Pe­nnington herself. Refusing to back down, Pe­nnington took to Twitter to counter Harrison’s claims with her de­fiant tweet, stating:

Michael Chandler, known for his lively and sometimes comedic personality, couldn’t resist the urge to take a friendly jab at Dustin Poirier. Chandler responded to Pennington’s tweet. He made a clear reference to Poirier’s own hot sauce company, Poirier’s Louisiana Style Hot Sauce. This is what Chandler said:

Chandler likened Pennington’s response to Poirier’s alternate career plan of selling hot sauce. He insinuated that Pennington and Poirier chose a way out of battling inside the octagon. This was an attempt at riling his contemporary. However, it is not clear whether this stems from Chandler’s impatience at waiting for a fight against Conor McGregor. Is there a possibility that we might see Chandler fight Poirier if the McGregor fight does not happen? Maybe, as Chandler has sown the seeds for a possible clash against Poirier with this tweet.

The ongoing feud between Michael Chandler and Poirier has added some much-needed spice to the UFC’s lightweight division. The two fighters may continue to trade verbal jabs on social media. However, they share a deep appreciation for the sport and the challenges that come with it. Chandler is potentially set to face Conor McGregor in the summer of this year.

Dustin Poirier responds to Michael Chandler’s dig at him

Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler reignited their rivalry with a series of tweets. Chandler had taken a jab at Poirier’s hot sauce company. Poirier, never one to back down from a challenge quickly fired back at Chandler.

Poirier reminded Chandler of their fight at UFC 281. This was when Poirier submitted Chandler in the third round with a rear-naked choke. Poirier recounted the event and informed him that he had beaten him convincingly that night.

Despite the back-and-forth, it’s clear that there is mutual respect between Chandler and Poirier. Both fighters have actively participated in some of the most exciting matches in recent UFC history. They continue to be a staple of one of the most stacked divisions in the UFC, i.e. Lightweight. Fight fans would undoubtedly highly anticipate a rematch. Poirier potentially will fight for the title against Islam Makhachev.
