“There shouldn’t be gray areas,” Dustin Poirier fears USADA making joke out sport by waiving off Conor McGregor’s six-month drug testing

Dustin Poirier suggests that the entire system should be dissolved if Conor McGregor doesn't have to spend six months in the USADA pool before his return.

Dustin Poirier believes the USADA should be more serious about Conor McGregor getting clearance to fight without being in the testing pool. McGregor keeps on claiming that he will make his comeback at UFC 296 on December 16.

To avoid a six-month USADA testing period, the UFC must give him a special exemption if they want his return to happen. It’s a scenario that is quite likely to happen, however, former lightweight contender, Dustin Poirier is not happy with it at all. In a recent interview with MMA News, Poirier revealed that he respects USADA and their job, but there shouldn’t be any expectations from someone like McGregor.

He said: “I like USADA, and I do think they’re doing a good job of cleaning up our sport. But, for me, if they waive [the six-month window] and allow him to compete with no drug testing, it kind of just makes a joke of the whole thing. Just remove it completely, you know?”

“There shouldn’t be gray areas,” he added. “It’s white and black with USADA. You take tests and pass them, you’re able to compete. You don’t take tests, you won’t be able to compete.”  added Poirier.

According to the ‘Diamond’, USADA should give a proper decision of whether McGregor has taken any illegal substances or not and there shouldn’t be any confusion. Poirier suggests McGregor should take the test and he gets negative results he should be allowed to fight without any questions.

In July, at UFC 291, Dustin Poirier lost to Justin Gaethje via knockout. At 1:00 in Round 2, “The Highlight” stunned Poirier with a perfectly timed right head kick that gave him the win. Gaethje’s victory made him the second BMF champion in history.

When it comes to UFC title fights, Poirier has a bad record. Losing two title opportunities against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira was something that the fighter can never forget.
