In just a couple of days, fight fans will witness one of the most violent cards in UFC history. UFC 291 will be headlined by a rematch between Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier for the BMF title. With the UFC itself labelling the fight car crash of the ages, fans know that things are bound to get bloody. Even Dustin Poirier has revealed what will be the expected outcome if the fight goes all five rounds.

Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje are some of the most skilled brawlers in UFC. With the two fighting for the BMF title, many believe no other contestants could have done the title justice. Even the former BMF champion Jorge Masvidal is happy with the matchmaking and is backing his teammate Dustin Poirier going into the fight. Given the fight between the two is a rematch, fans know what they will witness at UFC 291.

Justin Gaethje lost the first bout to Dustin Poirier via TKO as referee Herb Dean stopped the bout in the 4th round. Even though Gaethje was out of his senses and unable to even stand properly he disagreed with the stoppage. Meanwhile, Poirier was in tremendous pain as he was on the receiving end of Gaethje’s leg kicks. This time around Poirier has predicted that the fight won’t go full five rounds. However, if it does both will end up in the hospital.

I don’t think it goes 25 minutes. If it does me and him will chat about it in the hospital because that’s where we will be going,” said Poirier in his interview. With both fighters coming in with this mentality, the fight will most definitely be in contention for the Fight of the Year award. This could be a fight that will be talked about for ages by those witnessing it live.

Lightweight fighter Justin Gaethje will be headlining UFC 291 against fellow former interim champion Dustin Poirier this weekend. As of now the current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev will be defending his title against Charles Oliveira at UFC 294. The matchup was finalized as both Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier disagreed to fight within thirteen weeks of their BMF title fight. However, Gaethje believes that he sees himself fighting for the title against Islam Makhachev. ‘The Highlight’ also added that he will show the world that Makhachev is not a great fighter and he will prove it.

“I can’t really see a scenario where I’d want to fight and defend this BMF belt before I get my chance at the world title. I know for a fact he’s not Khabib. And I want to go in there and prove that,” said Gaethje. Regardless, the Highlight has a huge challenge ahead of him and winning against Poirier won’t be an easy task.
