Former UFC champ Dustin Poirier has impressed many with the way he is handling his brutal loss against Justin Gaethje. “The Diamond” has even used the US president’s clumsiness to explain his shortcoming at UFC 291.
The latest fight card showcased by the UFC caused headlines primarily through the main event of the evening. It featured a BMF title bout between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje. The latter finished the fight via an incredible head-kick knockout on Poirier. But the former lightweight champ has been in humble in defeat as he is in victory. The fighter has even been appreciated for his attitude by fight fans like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jorge Masvidal.
Another instance of Poirier’s mature attitude toward the loss can be seen in a recent interview with famous sports reporter Ariel Helwani. Dustin explained his perspective before being knocked out. Poirier stated, “I’m here, f**king moving; then I’m on the ground. I knew something bad happened, you know? I’m not Joe Biden; (you) don’t just end up on the f**king ground.”
This comparison by Poirier was referring to Joe Biden falling over in public on multiple occasions. Let’s hope the US president took the banter lightly. Many fans are impressed with Poirier’s ability to still crack jokes on large platforms after being humiliated by Gaethje.
Jorge Masvidal commends his friend, Dustin Poirier after his loss at UFC 291
Former BMF champion in the UFC, Jorge Masvidal was in attendance for the recently held BMF title bout at UFC 291. Masvidal was obviously rooting for his long-time friend and former teammate Dustin Poirier. But considering the stellar performance by Justin Gaethje which handed him a knockout victory over The Diamond, Masvidal had to pay his respects to Gaethje after commending Dustin.
Jorge Masvidal stated, “Shout out to my boy Dustin. He’s the real BMF despite the outcome tonight.” Jorge also congratulated Justin Gaethje for his performance after showing love and respect to his long-time friend.
Jorge Masvidal has retired from fighting and going after championship titles like the BMF. But his support for Dustin Poirier might motivate the diamond to come back stronger in the lightweight division.
