Cauliflower ears are a common sighting among fighters, especially in the UFC. It appears uncommon for an average person in a sport where the fighters accumulate plenty of damage to their faces. Fighters like Dustin Poirier and Khabib Nurmagomedov are no exception. However, Poirier did not appreciate a fan trying to touch his ears.

A video surfaced on social media about Dustin Poirier, where the Louisana native interacted with a fan. The man wanted to touch the fighter’s ears, and Poirier leaned in to let the fan touch it. At first, it seems like a regular interaction before the man presses Poirier’s ears, he swiftly snaps away furiously from the man, and the video ends. It isn’t clear whether the man was a fan or a private acquaintance of Poirier.

Cauliflower ears occur when repeated blows to the ear result in blood collecting in the outer ear, which hardens quickly if not appropriately drained. People practicing/competing in sports like wrestling, boxing, rugby, or mixed martial arts are common victims of cauliflower ears.

Gilbert Burns recently defeated Jorge Masvidal at UFC 287, earning a backup spot for the next Welterweight title fight. UFC 288 lost its co-main event after Charles Oliveira withdrew from his fight against Beneil Dariush. “Durinho” took to Twitter, inviting Dustin Poirier to the welterweight division for a potential fight as the new co-, main event for UFC 288. He wrote, “All do respect to @DustinPoirier I know you are a dog! I just think me and you will be an amazing fight! Nothing but respect…#ufc288

Dustin Poirier responded, “I can make 170 no problem, I’m not really in fight shape but money talks.” Poirier mentions that he isn’t particularly in fighting shape now, but the right price could entice him to fight at UFC 288.

It is unknown if Dana White wants to make Burns vs. Poirier fight, but recent reports suggest that UFC tried to book Paulo Costa vs. Jan Blachowics as the new co-main event for UFC 288. Fight fans impatiently look forward to UFC announcing a new co-main event for UFC 288.
