“The golden boy knows more than I do” – Dustin Poirier takes a sly dig at Michael Chandler after potential fight tease
Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler tease a potential fight
It looks like UFC fans are in for a treat. A potential fight between Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier seems to be brewing. The two lightweight superstars are already throwing subliminal digs at each other which guarantees action inside the octagon.
Michael Chandler has been having the time of his life since his introduction to the UFC. The promotion’s new favorite fighter has won over the fans and also the matchmakers. With only 4 fights in the UFC, and all of them being action-packed blockbusters, Chandler is eyeing another fight this winter. Though a fight against Conor McGregor would be Chandler’s biggest wish, the former Bellator MMA champion wouldn’t mind settling for Louisiana star lightweight, Dustin Poirier.
Chandler was recently in London to watch the UFC Fight Night card featuring UK stars, Paddy Pimblett, Molly McCann, and Tom Aspinall. Iron Mike addressed the media and spoke about his next potential fight. “I think you’re going to hear some fight news coming pretty soon and it could be me and Dustin Poirier. We’ll see,” said Chandler.
Michael was very adamant about not fighting Poirier in the octagon after a misunderstanding. Something’s seemed to have changed the lightweight’s mind in recent times which has made him more accepting of that fight offer.
Dustin Poirier responds to Michael Chandler’s comments on the fight
After Mike’s recent update on the potential fight, MMA reporter Steven Marrocco reached out to the “Diamond” and asked him to reconfirm. It seems like Poirier is yet to receive any information from the promotion regarding the fight. “The Golden Boy probably knows more than I do,” wrote back Dustin to the reporter when reached out.
Chandler is coming off a “Knockout of The Year” win against Tony Ferguson at UFC 274. The fighter believes he is the right matchup for the Irish superstar, Conor McGregor, when he returns but Chandler doesn’t want to wait too long before he gets into the octagon. Chandler is currently 2-2 in his UFC career and is currently the most entertaining fighter in the top flight.
Poirier, on the other hand, is coming off a win against Conor in their trilogy. Poirier last fought at UFC 264 and has been asking to fight Nate Diaz for the past many months. Though neither of them had each other in mind for the next fight, it looks like a fantastic matchup.
