Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson surprised UFC welterweight Themba Gorimbo last week in his gym in Miami. It turns out the surprises were not over, as the former WWE superstar bought a new house for Gorimbo in Miami. The Rock once again showed his care and affection to the struggling UFC fighter.
Themba did not have any money when he came to the US. He used the last of his money to buy a plane ticket to the US. Themba has used his gym, MMA Masters in Miami, as his home till now. UFC supervillain Colby Covington is said to have helped Themba out before his fight against Takashi Sato. Helping out people in need always has become the moral of the story. The Rock did not have to do this courteous gesture, but he did.
The Rock has deeply invested in the world of MMA in recent times. He helped out Themba Gorimbo during the fighter’s financial struggles. The Rock also praised Dustin Poirier after the “Diamond” suffered a brutal knockout loss. Dustin’s attitude after the loss impressed Dwayne Johnson. The MMA community could use someone like Dwayne Johnson to help out struggling fighters so that more celebrities could follow the pattern.
It is also to note that The Rock recently came under fire from heavyweight fighter Tanner Boser. Boser accused The Rock of not sponsoring the UFC fighters despite them wearing his shoes on Fight Night. Boser stated that Venom paid him money for wearing their merchandise, but Johnson’s shoe brand did not pay the fighters any amount. Whether Johnson is doing charity work for good publicity or not, helping out people in need comes first before anything else.

Welterweight fighter Themba Gorimbo struggled a lot before coming to his own in the last few months. He got his first UFC win against Takashi Sato but still struggled to find a home. The Rock helped him out in a heartwarming gesture by buying Themba a house.
Themba went on Twitter to thank Dwayne Johnson. He wrote, “God is the Greatest. I am very grateful of @therock for what he did for me and my family. This was the best day of my life. This was life changing day. My life has been changed and i will use this as motivation to change others lives too. I am very very grateful to everyone.”
Hopefully, Themba will strengthen his weaknesses in the fight game and become a legitimate threat in the welterweight division. Winning a title might be a stretch but becoming a top contender in the division should be enough to deem his story as a success.
