“Gotta end it with a banger,” Eddie Alvarez gives solid advice to Nate Diaz ahead of the latter’s last UFC fight

Nate Diaz- Eddie Alvarez

There’s a reason Eddie Alvarez is called The Underground King, he will fight uncertainty if that’s what you put against him inside the Octagon. Alvarez is the former UFC Lightweight champion and the former Bellator MMA lightweight champion, the only fighter so far to win belts in both promotions. Alvarez has been fighting professionally in MMA since 2003. Over the years, Alvarez has won over the likes of Justin Gaethje, Rafael Dos Anjos, Anthony Pettis, Gilbert Melendez, Michael Chandler, Patricky Freire, Shinya Aoki, Pat Curran, Roger Huerta, Josh Neer and many more.

Alvarez, 38, is currently signed to ONE Championship and has been in a tough phase of his career lately having secured only one win since 2018. However, Alvarez is still in high spirits and we might expect his return anytime soon in future. If Alvarez is somehow able to bounce back from the adversity of his recent performances and is able to someday win ONE’s lightweight belt, he will for sure go down as one of the greatest lightweights in all of MMA history.

In an interview with Helen Yee, Alvarez talks about the famous partnership deal between ONE Championship and Amazon Prime, his thoughts on Dustin Poirier vs Michael Chandler matchup, his reaction to Nate Diaz vs Khamzat Chimaev fight announcement and much more. Yee then asked Alvarez what advice he would give to Diaz, who is soon to test the waters of free agency.

“Just come in with a chip on your shoulder man,” says Alvarez “The job’s not done, free agency’s just there but you know, you gotta end it with a banger. Whether you win or lose that last fight it doesn’t matter you know, you’re Nate Diaz, you have a big value in the UFC, outside the UFC, wherever you go, so…” continues Alvarez.
