“I haven’t got a clue”- Fan favorite, Paddy Pimblett is not sure about his appearance at UFC London
Paddy Pimblett
Paddy Pimblett talks about UFC London! THE UFC is all set to return to London on July 23. This is the second time UFC will host its event in the UK in 2022. UFC returned to the UK for the first time in three years in March for UFC FIGHT NIGHT: VOLKOV vs. ASPINALL. The event was the highest-grossing Fight Night in UFC history as the Stadium had a sell-out crowd of over 17,000.
The Main Fight on the Card was between Russian Heavyweight Alexander Volkov and England native Tom Aspinall who had the support of the home crowd. While Alexander Volkov may have been the favorite coming into the event, Aspinall did not disappoint; he made this fight look fairly easy.
UFC Fight Night saw amazing performances from local athletes and one of the main reasons for the event’s success was Rising star Paddy Pimblett, who defeated Rodrigo Vargas via submission in the very first round. While Tom Aspinall was the man at the top of the UFC card, Paddy was the major attraction of the night. Paddy Pimblett is already one of the biggest UFC stars despite having only one fight in the promotion.
As UFC prepares to return to London, Fans in the UK and around the globe are waiting for Paddy Pimblett to fight again on the English soil. However, Paddy is not sure whether he will fight in London on July 23.
Talking about the fight with ESPN, Paddy told “Don’t know yet, to be honest with you. We’ll see,” he said. “I haven’t got a clue. I don’t know whether I’ll be fighting. We’ll see over the coming weeks… We’ll see. We’ll see. Had a few talks last week, so… we’ll probably get something sorted, we’ll see what happens.”
“I want to get paid my worth”- Paddy Pimblett talks about getting paid what he deserves
As the talks about Paddy Pimblett fighting in London go on, The UFC star has expressed his desire to be paid more for his fights. After the UFC fight night in the UK, Pimblett revealed he is fighting on a basic $12k/$12k contract. Paddy is now willing to fight in London on July 23 if the “price is right.”
Paddy was asked about the fight’s motivation and what is stopping him from fighting in London to this Paddy told ESPN: “I’m motivated anyway, it has nothing to do with motivation. It’s a fight. I love fighting. I don’t do this sport to get paid, but I want to get paid my worth. It’s just the way it is.”
It is now unclear whether Paddy will fight on the London card as it clearly sounds like he’s willing to pass on the event if he is not paid well enough. Even if the paddy is paid enough, it is still a question whether Pimblett can even make it lightweight in time for July 23rd.
