“He’s done nothing,” Fans baffled as Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin  matched-up against fourth-ranked Cory Sandhagen without top 10 victory

On August 5 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Cory Sandhagen will square off against unbeaten Dagestani Umar Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov drops in the rankings as former interim title challenger Sandhagen moves up after victories over Song Yadong and Marlon Vera in back-to-back main events. So the question raised why Sandhagen took the fight as it might not help the fighter in the future at all. 

In a video posted to Instagram, Sandhagen remarked, “I’m fighting Aug. 5 against Umar Nurmagomedov. I’m getting a lot of haters saying, ‘Why would you fight this far down in the rankings?’ He’s going to beat my ass, blah, blah, blah.“

Explaining the reason Cory stated: “Two reasons: One, Umar is a great fighter, and I’m not trying to be world champ if I’m not the actual best in the entire world. So fighting Umar is a great challenge, and I accept it. And No. 2? Because I’m a beast, b*tch, that’s why. Peace, I’ll see you guys in Nashville. Yippee ki-yay, motherf*cker.”

It seems like the fighter only wanted a challenge and has gone to fight Umar Nurmagomedov. Nevertheless, it will definitely be an amazing fight and fans will be waiting for it.

Even though Cory Sandhagen has never won any UFC championship, he is still considered one of the best fighters in the division with an entertaining fighting style. However, after getting two back-to-back wins, nobody expected him to fight Umar Nurmagomedov next but that’s the reality.
