Aljamain Sterling‘s last two fights resulted in a win and a loss. After a successful title defense against Henry Cejudo, the 23-4 bantamweight lost his title to Sean O’Malley, at UFC 292. Recently, fans had lauded him for moving on from his past face-offs. His interest in stepping up to featherweight has fans hoping for another title run in the future. Sterling locks horns with Calvin Kattar on the historic UFC 300 card.

His move to featherweight had brought along some alleviation amongst fans. “The Funk Master” had clashed with “Suga” and even CEO and helmsman Dana White on multiple occasions before, regarding his unsuccessful title defense. Now, yet again, Sterling has respawned the thread of critiquing the UFC 288 and UFC 292 discourses. On being questioned if the Cejudo fight had better PPV buy-ins on X, Sterling retorted with a satirical “Hell no” on the matter.

To put matters into context, Sterling recently critiqued the UFC 292 buy rate underperforming. He had attributed it to O’Malley’s lack of draw-in power. When UFC 288 was brought into question, he went on to regret taking up the square-off against O’Malley, soon after locking horns with Cejudo. Cejudo and his fight had majorly underperformed, in comparison. Even “Suga” had dissed the latter on this in a heated Twitter exchange.

Consequently, in the current comment, a fan retorted “You might be the problem man.” Additionally, this is not the only instance of fan backlash that the fighter faced in his commentary on PPV buy rates.

Aljamain Sterling steps into the new year with a move up to featherweight. The fighter faces Calvin Kattar at UFC 300 next. Sterling’s previous title contentions, at UFC 288 and UFC 299 are what fans are engaged in currently. The fighter recently slightly jeered at Sean O’Malley and Henry Cejudo for fewer draw-ins and a meager paycheck on these cards.
